Perhaps the most difficult brand we’ve had to develop is that of the organisation we work for. Steeped in history and being a collection of many different activities, a council is hard to define.

For many years the council used the colours of the local football team. This seemed inappropriate; proud though we are of the team, we needed a clear distinction. The new brand consists of a cool, calm, mint and charcoal black.

The council crest was retained, but simplified, with the lion’s tail just making contact with the type. Three versions of the brand exist, to cope with the range of situations it might find itself in. In a nod to the modern age the brand uses the council web address as its name. This avoids repetition and makes the device more useful.
